Elloy Jo Ann Carter, a cherished soul, was born on January 26, 1938, and departed this world on December 13, 2025, surrounded by her family. She graced the lives of many with her unwavering faith and genuine love for humanity. A God-loving woman, Jo Ann found her purpose not only in her own spiritual journey but also in the solace and warmth she offered to those around her. Her caring nature and commitment to helping others were hallmarks of her existence, making her a beacon of light in the lives she touched.
Jo Ann embraced life with open arms, reveling in simple pleasures that brought her joy. Bowling with friends, engaging in spirited games of cards, and riding alongside fellow members of the Joy Riders Motorcycle Ministries filled her days with laughter and camaraderie. Each experience was cherished, a testament to her zest for life and her belief in communal joy.
Her spirit of service extended beyond recreation, as she actively participated in prison ministry, exemplifying her profound commitment to reach out and uplift those in need of compassion and understanding.
One of her most beloved traditions was the annual family gathering dedicated to preparing stockings for children. This act of love reflected not only her generosity but also the deep bonds she nurtured within her family, whom she regarded as her world. Jo Ann's legacy is one of love, mirth, and an indomitable spirit that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we remember Jo Ann Carter as a guiding light, her kindness echoing in the hearts of all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. "Mr. Fuzz" Carter, daughter, Peggy Mae Carter; Son, James Carter, Jr.; parents, John and Lillie Mae and 4 siblings.
Jo Ann leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Trina (Mike) Stith, John Carter and David (Donna) Carter; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Donna McNutt.
There will be a celebration of Jo Ann's life at a later date that will be announce.
