Ellen (Hisle) Blackman

February 12, 1942 — November 11, 2016

Ellen (Hisle) Blackman, 74, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016. She was a godly woman who loved attending church and writing poetry and enjoyed art, traveling, playing Bingo, and attending community activities. She was a mom to any child she met. Ellen was affectionately known as the "4-H Mom." Family was very important to her, and she was known to always have a warm meal for everyone.

She was born on February 12, 1942, to the late Clarence and Leona (Griffin) Hisle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alan Blackman; and her daughter, Donna Edwards.

Ellen is survived by her son, Ronald Blackman (Susan); brother, Joseph Hisle (Rebecca); sisters, Pauline Moran and Hilda King; grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris (Joshua), Ron Blackman, Steven Blackman, and Jessica Blackman; and great granddaughter, Olivia Harris.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. immediately following visitation in the chapel at the funeral home.
