Elizabeth Ellen Bowe

Elizabeth Ellen (Jacobi) Bowe, 91, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. Ellen was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Shepherds of Christ Associates.

She was born on November 8, 1926, in Floyd County, Indiana, to the late Louis Conrad and Viola Mae (Ballard) Jacobi. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis H. Bowe; grandparents who raised her, Martin and Anna (Becht) Jacobi; sons-in-law, Thomas "T.P." Butler and James Withers; and four infant grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by her children, Julie Schindler-Withers, Joyce Banet (Rich Huth), Janice Butler, Denise Banet (Ralph), Dennis M. Bowe, and Steven Bowe (Cindy); siblings, Agnes Shirley (Jerry), Darlene Stoeffler (Ed), and Vincent Jacobi (Nancy); 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The Bowe family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers, doctors, hospitals, and nursing facilities that have provided their help to Ellen and her family. A special thank you goes to Mary Cardwell and Susan Smith for their continued care during this difficult time.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Paul II – St. Joe Hill Campus (2605 West St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Ellen's memory be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society (706 East Lewis & Clark Parkway, Clarksville, Indiana 47129) or the St. John Paul II Building Fund (218 Schellers Avenue, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172).
