Elaine Garnette Yocum, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, passed away on September 18, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on January 19, 1970, in Shelbyville, and will be remembered as a funny, caring, loving, and dependable woman who was often the one others turned to. Very outspoken and a natural kid magnet, Elaine made a lasting impression on the people around her through her warmth, strength, and unmistakable spirit.
Elaine was a graduate of Shelby County High School and devoted 15 years of her working life to Ventek Solutions. She enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and anything connected to the University of Kentucky. Some of her happiest moments were spent with family, especially in the joy she found in spending time with her grandbaby. Among her proudest accomplishments were her family and becoming a grandmother, roles that brought her deep happiness and meaning. She fought to the end with courage that reflected the strength so many admired in her.
Elaine is survived by her father, Robert Yocum, and her mother, Katie Yocum; by her daughters, Laporcha Hinkle and Aaliyah Hinkle, and her son, Jordan Hinkle; and by her grandson, Za'Mir Triplinn, who held a very special place in her heart.
