Edwin "Eddie" Melendez, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on October 29, 2021, surrounded by family, after an aggressive battle with terminal cancer. Throughout this battle, he was an absolute warrior, enduring so much with so little complaint.
Edwin Melendez was born on August 31, 1959, in Fajardo, P.R. to his parents Luis and Carmen Elisa Melendez. After graduating from Highschool, he went on to join the United States Armed Forces.
SPC Edwin Melendez was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, he began working for UPS for over 20+ years until cancer prohibited him from working. He loved and took great pride in his job and the people he worked with. When he wasn't working, he was passionate about fishing and collecting electronic gadgets.
Edwin is predeceased by his father Luis Melendez and is survived by his wife Eva Mae Melendez of 32 years, his daughters Jessica Hyman, Carmen Elisa Cruz, Cassandra Michelle Sanchez and Patricia Delia Phillips, stepsons Jovan Vance, Dante James, and Dominic James, his mother, Carmen Elisa Melendez, his siblings Carmen Doris Schneider, Hector Luis Melendez, and Arlene Evette Melendez, and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
He stands in our hearts as a reminder of strength, perseverance, love, and compassion. Though we will mourn his loss daily, we know that he is in a much better place, and we will be reunited in time.
A special thank you to the people at Hosparus Health of Louisville for their loving care and support during his final days.
