Edward Rogers Sitzler, Sr.

July 17, 1921 — January 12, 2020

Edward Rogers "Ed" Sitzler, Sr., 98, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

Ed was a tool and die maker, then he proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. After the war, Ed became a professional photographer in New York City. Subsequently, he then went to work for General Electric and transferred to Louisville, KY in 1953 where he ran the model shop in building 3. Ed left GE to become a manufacturers representative with his own company, The Sitzler Company. He became the majority owner of Caldwell Industries Inc. Ed and his wife Betty were charter members of Hurstbourne Country Club. Ed won the member/member tournament twice and The Golden Blazer once. Ed and Betty enjoyed sailing on their boat. Edward has several patents. His hobby was carving carousel horses and making writing pens.

He was born on July 17, 1921 in Westmont, New Jersey to the late Thomas and Eliza Sitzler. He is also preceded in death by his wife Dorothea Elizabeth "Betty" Banes Sitzler.

Ed is survived by his son, Edward R. Sitzler, Jr., (Jean), daughter, Candace Price (Rick), grandsons, Edward R. Sitzler, III, (Brooke) and Joseph Sitzler (Heather); great-grandchildren, Elliott Sitzler, Allie Sitzler, Emma Rowe, Brendon Smith and Dakota Smith.

There will be a celebration of Edward's life at The Corner Cafe' (9307 New Lagrange Road) on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 5pm - 8pm.
