Edward William "Ed" Sinkhorn, 88, of Georgetown, Indiana, entered God's loving embrace and gained a new audience for his jokes and stories on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Ed was a member of St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Church, as well as a past member of the Mount St. Francis Sanctuary Board and an Honorary Affiliate to the First Order of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation, Conventual Franciscans. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a past Scout Master, and an avid volunteer throughout his life. After his retirement, Ed worked for J&J Pallet Company in New Albany. He will be remembered as a humble and loving man who put his family and others first.
He was born on April 22, 1931, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Harold, Sr., and Catherine (Ritz) Sinkhorn. Along with his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Sinkhorn, Jr.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Thecla (Ellenbrand) Sinkhorn; children, Cathie (Jim) Schneider, Dave (Barb) Sinkhorn, Tim Sinkhorn, Rev. Dan (Laura) Sinkhorn, and Sister Michelle Sinkhorn, OSB; grandchildren, Chris, April, Jason, Nicki, Melissa, Julie, Jenna, Josh, Alex, Bethany, Jonathan, Nathan, and Ruthie; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Ed's life will be scheduled at a later date. He will be laid to rest privately with military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery - Navilleton in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
The family requests that contributions in Ed's memory be made to the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand, Indiana, or the Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation.
