Edward Herman "Ed" Richmer (Command Sergeant Major, Ret), 84, died March 14, 2016 after losing his battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mariquita T. Richmer; parents, Clemens A. Richmer and Evamay (Bach) Richmer; son, James C. Richmer; sisters, Theresa J. Richmer & Yvonne M. Sprigler; brother, Charles J. Richmer and great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Richmer.
He is survived by sons, Edward W. Richmer (Deb) & Anthony M. Richmer (Debbie); daughter, Marcia Kay Richmer (Pete Wines); brother, Wilbur G. Richmer (Helen); 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He retired from U.S. Naval Ordinance Station after 33 years and at the same time taught advanced mathematics and machine tool training, 33 years at Prosser School of Technology and served 35 years active duty and active Army Reserves retiring with the rank of CSM. He then drove a school bus for New Albany Floyd County School Corporation for 14 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council in New Albany, IN.
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). His Funeral Mass will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, IN) with burial to follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Elizabeth, IN. A Rosary Service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) or St. Peter Catholic Church (7780 Buena Vista Road SE, Elizabeth, Indiana 47117).
