Edward F. Reed, age 99 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Franciscan Health Care Center. He was the founder and owner of the former Louisville Letter Service. He was a Sixth Armored Division Veteran of World War II; a member of American Legion Highland Post 201; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15018; a 20-year trustee of the Patton Museum Foundation; and past president and secretary-treasurer for 47 years of the Sixth Armored Division Association. His military decorations include the Silver Star (pinned on him by General George S. Patton), the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the European Campaign Medal with five major campaign clusters, and the Silver Medallion of the Order of St. George. He was a life member of Bishop Spalding Council Knights of Columbus; a member and past-president of the City Salesmen's Club; a member of the former Knight Crawlers Square Dance Club; and a former member of Holy Spirit and St. Raphael parishes. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rose Marie Dannacher; and his siblings, R.J. Reed (Mary Lib), Mary Catherine Miller (Paul), Thelma Walsh (Norbert) and Frank Reed, Jr. (Marlene)
Ed is survived by his loving daughters, Kathleen McDaniel (Timothy), Rosemary Hasch (David) and Carolyn Reed; grandsons, Craig McDaniel (Erin), Kevin McDaniel (Holly) and Ryan McDaniel (Annette Littrell); great-grandchildren, Bain and Riley McDaniel; step-granddaughter, Lauren Hasch (Soheil); and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 1pm-5pm on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funeral and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. A celebration of Ed's life will be 11am Monday, January 8th at the funeral home, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
