Edward Firman Pearce Jr., 91, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Newport, Kentucky on September 12, 1925 to the late Edward Firman and Geneva Agnes Pearce. He was a retired truck driver with Smith's Transportation; a Mason and longtime member of Sunset Lodge No. 915 in Shively, Teamster #98 and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a veteran in the United States Marine Corps where he served proudly in World War II.
In addition to his parents Ed is preceded in death by two sisters, Marium and Mildred and a granddaughter, Melissa. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Betty Ruth Pearce; children, Janet (James) Phillips, Beverly Murray, Gloria Jean (Robert, Jr.) Kerr, Cynthia (Clay) Rivers and Edward Pearce, III; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272) with visitation at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday. Burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens East will follow services. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kosair Children's Hospital.
