Edward Lee McRae, 71, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. He retired from Jeff Boat as a crane/rigging leader after an almost 30-year career. He had a great sense of humor, loved his family deeply, and was incredibly proud of his 30 years of sobriety. Eddie was a fan of Dodge trucks, the Los Angeles Raiders, IU, UofL, and UK sports, and enjoyed watching game shows and soap operas.
He was born on May 4, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to William and Cora (Rakes) McRae. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his siblings, Donna Jo Ashby, Larry McRae, Thompson Freeman McRae, and Laura Susan Bowling.
Eddie is survived by his lifelong companion, Deborah McRae; children, Edward "Scotty" McRae (Dawnita), Nicole McRae, Crystal Sawyers, and Patricia Thompson Hall; siblings, Linda Darlene Bishop and Buddy Bateman (Connie Wilson); grandchildren, Brandon McRae, Austin McRae, Briana Wiseheart, Alex McRae, Dayton Glotzbach, Josh "Hooty" Gonzales, Destiny Nolen (Clay), Jessica Stout (Stephen), Elijah Whitely, and Curtis Scott; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Eddie's wish was to be cremated, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care.
