Edward Paul Koopman

Edward Paul "Ed" Koopman, 78, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on June 2, 2017. Ed was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, Indiana. He loved and was truly devoted to his church, family, and community. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with his hands. He spent his free time working in his shop on special projects for his family, woodworking, and gardening.

Ed was born on February 9, 1939, in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to the late Henry and Agnes E. (Smith) Koopman. Along with his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Fr. Bernard Koopman. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn "Joy" (Reed) Koopman; children, Steve Koopman (Angie), Pam Koopman-Johnson (Greg), Greg Koopman, Paula Giddings (David), Beth Koopman, Everett Koopman (Donna), and Jennifer Eversmann (Jason); brothers, Raymond (Shirley), Lawrence (Darlene), Charles (Mary Ellen), and Norbert (Mary) Koopman; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Visitation will continue Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8310 St. Johns Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119).
