Edward Louis Christian

Edward L. Christian, 88, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday evening, February 23, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was a United States Air Force veteran, retired from Marathon Oil Co., and was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Ed was an avid IU fan, enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was born on October 10, 1928, to the late Julius Christian and Lula Mae (Grantz) Christian Mueller. Ed was also preceded in death by his wife, Rita Jane (Baurle) Christian; infant daughter, Phyllis; and step-father, Edward J. Mueller.

Ed is survived by his daughters, Carol Kestler (Denny), Barbara Landis (Steve), and Lisa Miller; sisters, Marie Naville (CJ) and Patricia Randolph; grandchildren, Chris Kestler (Katie), Tim Kestler, Drew Abell (Kristen), Kyle Abell, Cody Miller (Rhea), Megan Landis Block (Danny), and Michelle Landis Huber (Derek); great-grandchildren, Will, Reagan, Quinn, Grace, Jack, and William; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a Prayer Service taking place at 2:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church (129 West Daisy Lane, New Albany) with burial and military honors to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
