Edward J. Burkhead, Jr., 84, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019. Edward was a faithful member of Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He loved singing and volunteering at his church and spending time with family.
He was born on January 21, 1935 in Marshall, Texas to the late Edward, Sr. and Nancy Dee (Morris) Burkhead. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Brian Burkhead.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jane Ellen Burkhead; daughter, Paula (Steven) Johnson; grandchildren, Nicole Hartman, Natalie Hartman, Sarah Johnson, and Katherine Johnson; brother, Martin Burkhead; 2 nieces, Marta Ehrlich and Kiah Burkhead.
Visitation will be from 5PM to 8PM on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany. Visitation will continue Friday morning after 9:30AM until 11AM at Christ Gospel Church (2614 East 10th St. Jeffersonville, IN 47130). His Funeral Service will be at 11AM on Friday, at the church with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
The family requests that contributions in Edward 's memory be made to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
