Edna Helm Madison was the 2nd born of Francesca "Fannie" James and Shelby Helm on November 24, 1930, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She departed this life on September 20, 2021, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Edna grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky where she lived with her paternal grandmother Edna Robinson and her mother. As a child, Edna excelled in school, graduating top of her class at Bowling Green High School in 1948. She later went on to study at Spalding University, earning a degree in Psychology and graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1976. Edna was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Kentucky Philosophical Society and recognized in the Who's Who United States.
In August of 1956, she married William A Madison, Sr. On September 18, 1957, she gave birth to twin boys, Kevin A Madison and Anthony B Madison, Sr. After 35 years of devoted services, Edna retired from the Federal Social Security Administration.
Later, Edna accepted Christ and was baptized Catholic. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish as a devout member. She loved hosting parties and travelling the U.S. Her favorite activities were bowling for the Louisville Women's Bowling Association (KY Hall of Famer and Past Director) and gambling (slots) at her favorite casinos.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Francesca James and Shelby Helm, and her brother Shelby Helm Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sons, Kevin A. Madison (Tiffany) and Anthony B. Madison, Sr. (Jacqueline), four grandchildren, Garrick D. Madison, Anthony B. Madison, Jr., Brittany L. Johnson, Mareah A. Madison and three great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish Edna's memory is her stepdaughter Rev. Jamie Y. Keith and (step) granddaughter Imani V. Keith.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery - Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
