Edna Virginia Jackson

On January 27, 2020 Edna V. Jackson departed this life.

Edna was born on June 25, 1933 to Harry and Mattie Todd. She was the fourth child. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Norman Todd, Violet Yates, George Todd and Eugene Todd.

Edna was baptized at The Little Flock Missionary Baptist Church in November 1944 under the pastorate of Rev. John Browder. She taught vacation bible school, attended Sunday School and BYPU. Edna was a faithful member until her illness. She was devoted to her current pastor, Rev. Bernard Crayton and she loved the music ministry of the church.

In February 1953 she was united in marriage to James E. Jackson. Edna was the mother of four children: Reba Stratton, Joan Jackson, James Jackson and Angela Jackson

Edna not only loved her children, but the children of her family members and neighbors. She was a priceless babysitter to all the children she cared for. She became known as "Granny", Aunt Sissy, Ms. Edna and Nanny. The children she cared for love her to this day for the value lessons she taught them about love and life. She treated every child she cared for just as special as she did her own children.

She leaves to cherish her memory , her beloved children: Reba J. Stratton, Joan M. Jackson (Adrienne), James T. Jackson and Angela D. Jackson.
Grandchildren: Keith M. Jones, Cynthia R. Benedict (Ronald), Kevin Jones (Demica), Korey M. Jones, and Samantha E. Ferguson.
Great Grandchildren: Khaliyah Jones, Keshon Jones, Kendal Jones, Kaden Jones (Keith), Jamie Johnson, Jaela Johnson (Cynthia), Kennedi Jones, Kevin Jones Jr, Karsynn Jones (Kevin), Korriah Jones, Korey Jones Jr (Korey)

A gathering for Edna's family and friends will be from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy), a celebration of her life will follow at 1:30 pm.
