Edna Mae (Lee) Hedrick, 88, of Memphis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025. Her journey began on March 23, 1937, in Borden, where she was born in a log cabin to Richard and Laura (Swartz) Lee. Throughout her life, Edna cultivated a multitude of passions that reflected her vibrant spirit. She had an adventurous heart, reveling in the joy of travel, the beauty of gardening, and the thrill of collecting.
A skilled quilter, Edna created countless intricate works of art, each stitched piece woven with love and care, which she generously shared with her family, leaving a legacy of warmth and creativity. Her fondness for Elvis Presley was also a notable aspect of her personality, showcasing her fun spirit.
Known affectionately as "Ma," Edna was a caretaker at heart, extending kindness and nurturing to all those she encountered. Many children were fortunate to experience her love, as she served as a babysitter to numerous families.
Edna's legacy is one of love and resilience, marked by enduring relationships and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hedrick; her son, Dale Sneed; two grandchildren, Nicki Sneed and Paul House; and her eight siblings.
She is survived by her loving children, Lisa House (Gary) and Chuck Hedrick (Lora). Also left to cherish her memory are her daughter-in-law, Annette Sneed; her grandchildren, Christine Sneed (Jared), Alicia Wilson (Thomas), Ashley Schmidt (Kyle), C.W. Hedrick (Kailey), Jamie Stookey (Ashley), Josh Stookey, and Kayla Stookey; as well as her great-grandchildren, Kendel, Zoey, Elly, Carson, Eli, Alaura, and Dalen; her brother, Mervin Lee, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Edna will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany and continue on Friday after 9:00 a.m. A funeral service honoring her life will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Miller Cemetery in Borden.
