Edmond Wilson Ward, Jr., 67, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. He was a proud United States veteran with a career that spanned over 20 years, having served in both the Navy and Coast Guard. Edmond was a member of the American Legion and the Sea Knights. He was a collector of battleships and enjoyed playing board games, as well as expressing his emotions through writing.
He was born on April 18, 1949, in Georgetown, South Carolina, to the late Edmond, Sr., and Marthena (Avery) Ward. Edmond is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary (Tutt) Ward; son, Edmond "Danny" Ward III; brother, Elder Dennis Ward; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. James Tutt, Sr., Rev. Effie Stone (Charles), and Raymond Tutt; cousin, Gloria Melvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Funeral Service taking place at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
