Edith Maxine Melvey, 95, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on July 14, 2017.
Edith was born on December 26, 1921 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late John and Lugene Pope. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Melvey; children, Linda Melvey and Frank Melvey; siblings, Freda Gholston, Frank Pope and Virginia Edwards.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Sharon Cantrall; grandchildren, Kirsten Melvey, Tayla Melvey, Nekeidra Reid and Frank Melvey, Jr.; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243). Her Funeral Ceremony will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Jeffersontown Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
