Edith "Baby Sister" Henderson went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. She was born on March 28, 1936 in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Rosie and Mose Bartee, Sr.
At a young age she became a member of Cunningham Church of God in Christ in Clarksdale, Mississippi and confessed her life to Christ. She became a member and church Mother of Miracle Temple of Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Gabriel Hatcher, Sr.
Not only was she a great mother and grandmother, she was great nurturer to everyone she came across. Known as 28th Street's Mom, when she cooked, the whole neighborhood ate. From the popcorn balls to the sweet potato pies, the stove was always on. Baby Sis was a jack of all trades when it came to fixing her house: "All you need is a little duct tape".
One of her joys when she came to church was to sing and testify and her favorite song was "Lord, I Just Want to Thank You"!
Edith is preceded in death by her parents; son, Willie Ed, Jr.; sisters, Lucille Robinson, Annie Taylor; brothers, Mose Bartee, Jr., Eddie James Bartee and Frank Bartee.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Katie Evans, Mattie Keeton (Robbie), and Lettie Bartee; children, Barbara Gaither (Bennell), Billy Henderson, Rose Evans, Sandra Wright, Rennea Henderson,
Kenny Henderson and Keniya Henderson; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
