Edgar Ray Poe

Edgar Ray Poe, 85, of Elizabeth, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. Edgar retired from Lincoln Income Life Insurance Company and for many years, had enjoyed gardening alongside of his late wife, Sue.

He was born on November 20, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky to Hubert and Esther (Rice) Poe. In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sue (Evans) Poe; and sister, Carolyn Egbert.

Edgar is survived by his children, Robert Morgan (Robin), Jacqueline Priddy (Barry), Eric Poe (Becky), Jason Poe (Lou Anne); siblings, Linda Sanders (Bobby), Charlie Poe (Alma); 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 2:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edgar’s memory may be made to the American Stroke Foundation.
