Charles "Eddie" Edward Jekel Sr., 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his Grandchildren. He was an avid University of Louisville, Nascar, and sports fan. Eddie retired as an Operating Engineer from Operators Union #181 and was a Lifetime Member. He loved going and spending time at Barren River Lake.
He was born on September 11, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky to William and Margaret (Shrewsbury) Jekel. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife and Mother of his Children, Nancy (Tucker) Jekel, Siblings, William Jekel, June Bruenig, Pete Jekel, and Joe Jekel, Wife, Patricia (Jones) Jekel.
Eddie is survived by his Son, Charles Jekel, Jr., Daughter, Terri (Steve) Horn, Son, Ronnie (Becky) Jekel, Step-Children, Michelle Bruner, Jason (Dona) Robison, and Brandy Robison, Grandchildren, Graham (Samantha) Jekel, Emily (Joseph) Sutherland, Brenden Jekel, Zachary Horn, Rachel Horn, and Kailyn Jekel, Great-Grandson, Ethan Jekel, Step-Grandchildren, Zachary (Shelby) Bruner, Camryn Bruner, Shane (Alexis) Robison, Samantha Robison, and Hunter Robison, Sisters, Mary Lou Atzinger, and Alice Morris, and Brother, Jerry Jekel. Eddie also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Extended Family.
His Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. A Celebration of Eddie's Life will be held on January 29, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Mike Linnig's Famous Seafood Restaurant (9308 Cane Run Road).
