Eddie Gie Hixson, Sr.

November 4, 1920 — March 21, 2016

Eddie Gie Hixson, Sr., 95, formerly of Meade County, passed away on March 21, 2016. He was a decorated WWII veteran with 2 bronze stars, a purple heart and a good conduct medal. He retired from LG&E after 36 years of service and was an avid bee keeper. Gardening, fishing and livestock were a few of his hobbies that he enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his son, parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Imogene Hixson; daughters, Bonita (Larry) Darnell and Carolyn (Joe) Cline; step-son, Jimmy Crume; 5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren and sisters, Naomi Bowman and Ruby Roy; several nieces, nephews and a very special boy, Dane Lucas Medley.

Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2016, from 2pm-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway) and Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from 9am-11am with a celebration of Eddie's life beginning at 11am. A graveside service will be at Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY beginning at 1pm with military honors.
