Marion Edward "Eddie" Black Sr., 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019. Eddie was a member of The Coast Guard Auxiliary, and served in the ministry of Christ for 55 years. As an avid outdoorsman, Eddie especially loved to be out in nature and he loved to share its beauty with friends and family alike. He was always eager to learn new things and typically used that knowledge to teach and benefit others. Eddie was a diligent worker and knew the importance of making time to play when work was finished. He had a contagious energy and an infectious happiness. Eddie never met a stranger, and met many wonderful friends over the years through his metal detecting, fishing, and musical pastimes.
He was born on January 31, 1943 in Cropper, Kentucky to Herbert Black and Frances Moore. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a Great-Grandchild, Colette Marks.
Eddie is survived by his loving Wife of 55 years, Daisy F. Black, Daughter, Donna Marks, Son, Eddie Black, Jr. (Wendy), Grandchildren, Lauren Marks, Steven (Joelle) Marks, and Eddy Black, Great-Grandchild, Alicea Marks, Brother, Earl (Barbara) Black, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). A celebration of Eddie's life will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, Kentucky.
The family requests that contributions in Eddie's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
