Earnestine Battle, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
A woman of deep faith, Earnestine was an active member of Liberty Temple Church. Her nurturing nature brought comfort and joy to those around her. She cherished her time playing the lottery, enjoyed watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy," and found solace in her conversations over the phone. Above all, Earnestine had a profound love for reading her Bible, which was a cornerstone of her life. Known for her culinary skills, she specialized in making smothered pork chops and dressing, dishes beloved by family and friends alike. Earnestine truly was everyone's sunshine.
Born on September 30, 1944, in Montgomery, Alabama, Earnestine was the daughter of Henry and Lillie (Dennis) Townsend. She is preceded in death by her father, Henry Townsend; her mother, Lillie Mae Parker; her daughter, Lisa Battle; her sister, Mary Pearl Battle; and her brother, Clinton Gibson.
She leaves behind a cherished family that includes her daughters, Angela Harrison and Regina Battle; her son, Andre Battle; and her grandchildren, Tonya, Maya (Dontay), Latreena, Robert, Angela, Cheona, Andre, Andrico, Christina, James, Clifford, Tequila, Larry, Kenneth, Jeremiah, Tonesha, Anthony; and aunt, Annie Battle. Earnestine will also be fondly remembered by her host of great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
A visitation honoring Earnestine's life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Highway. Following the visitation, her Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
Earnestine Battle’s legacy of love and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
