Earnest Ricky "Rick" Smith, 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on June 9, 2026. Born on May 6, 1960, in Winter Park, Florida, Rick lived a life defined by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.

Rick began his career at Ford Motor Company’s Michigan Truck Plant (MTP) on October 3, 1988—a date he never forgot. In 2011, he transferred to the Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP), where he continued his work until retiring after an impressive 32-year career. His strong work ethic was instilled in him from a young age by his Uncle Calvin Weaver, who taught him the importance of securing a stable job and providing for one’s family. These lessons guided Rick throughout his life and became a cornerstone of his character.

On May 6, 1994—his birthday—Rick married the love of his life. Together they built a marriage that spanned over three decades and endured until his passing. Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years; two beloved daughters, Jyssica and Gloria; one cherished granddaughter, Peyden; and two bonus children, Laditra and Robert Jackson. He was predeceased by his parents, Gloria and Shelly Watson; his grandparents; and the aunt and uncle who raised him with love and wisdom, Calvin and Pauline Weaver.

Family was everything to Rick. He found immense joy in spending quality time with those he loved most. Whether it was playing pool with his closest friends—his “Kentucky brothers”—or hosting cookouts filled with laughter and dancing, Rick’s presence brought warmth and happiness to every gathering. His generosity knew no bounds; he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Rick’s faith played an important role in his life. He was baptized at Greater Grace Temple Taylor in Michigan by Bishop Gary Harper. After moving to Kentucky, he became a member of First Virginia Baptist Church, where he continued to nurture his spiritual journey.

Those who knew Rick will remember him as a loving and giving man whose kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His ability to connect with people made him truly unforgettable—he was deeply loved wherever he went.

May the memory of Earnest Ricky "Rick" Smith bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
