Earlene Weathers Bridges, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, at the age of 97, with her devoted family by her side. Born on November 28, 1927, in Louisville, KY, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear.
Earlene graduated from Central High School and pursued her passion for business by attending a local business school, where she earned a degree in computer operation. She began her career working for Dr. Holdrook's office after school, a testament to her dedication and hard work. Earlene then dedicated 25 wonderful years of her life to serving the Federal Government in Fort Knox until her well-deserved retirement.
Her personality was as vibrant as her interests; she was known for her loving and caring nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those she loved. Earlene had many hobbies that filled her life with joy, including floral arranging, immersing herself in books at the library, and listening to classical music. Her passion for music extended to her singing, which brought delight to all who had the pleasure of hearing her voice. Additionally, she enjoyed going window shopping and spending time enjoying the sights and sounds of her beloved town.
Earlene cherished family above all else, a sentiment echoed in her proudest accomplishment—watching her family grow. She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Doris Vaughn) Vaughn, Tony (Linda) Vaughn, and Miles Vaughn; her granddaughters, Shanda Vaughn and Iesha Stewart; her great-granddaughter, Sha'Mia (Chauncy) Butler; and many loving great-great-grandchildren. Earlene also leaves behind cherished cousins, Carol Hickman, Emet Wright-Lawson, and Nona Cleaver, alongside countless friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.
While Earlene is predeceased by her mother, Mildred Weathers; her father, Arthur Weathers; and her daughter, Nadine Porter, her spirit lives on through the many lives she has touched.
