Earl Samuel Davis

August 3, 1923 — April 22, 2017

Earl Samuel Davis, 93, of Louisville passed away on April 22, 2017. He grew up in Illinois prior to joining the Army during WWII. Earl was a proud member of Stonestreet Missionary Baptist Church where he was the song leader. He was an avid woodworker who enjoyed working with his hands and was also a union carpenter who helped build Marble Hill Nuclear Plant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.

Earl is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Jenkins Davis; children, Melvin Davis, Marlin Davis, Donna (Mike) Schmidt, Brenda (Rich) Ammon and Shelia Ogle (Steve) Biven; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leota Green and Irene Bollman; brother, Bobby Davis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY) from 2pm-8pm with visitation continuing Friday, April 28, 2017, at Stonestreet Missionary Baptist Church (10304 Stonestreet, Louisville, KY) from 10am-11am with a celebration of Earl's life beginning at 11am.

Burial will follow at Brackett Cemetery, Upton, KY.
