Dorris "Cooney" Trice, Jr., a devoted family man and steadfast worker, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026. Born on March 15, 1955, in Christian County, Kentucky, he lived a life marked by dedication, humility, and a straightforward approach to both work and family.
Dorris was a very hard worker who devoted many years to his career before retiring. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local Union 89, where his commitment and reliability were well respected by colleagues and peers alike. Throughout his life, he embraced his role as a provider with great pride, embodying the virtues of responsibility and perseverance.
Those who knew Dorris well will remember him as a simple man who was always straight to the point. His strong character reflected in his unwavering devotion to his family. As a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, he was a pillar of strength and support, always putting the needs and well-being of his loved ones at the forefront.
Dorris found joy in many simple pleasures; he enjoyed fishing, watching University of Louisville basketball games, and was an avid fan of westerns, the soap opera "The Young and the Restless," and the timeless antics of The Three Stooges. These interests offered him both relaxation and entertainment throughout the years.
He is survived by his beloved daughter Felicia (Carl S.) Brown, his son Dorris Trice, III, and his granddaughter Tamika Trice. He also leaves behind his sister Mary Trice and his aunt Williemae Lisenby, along with a host of other family members and friends who will deeply miss his presence in their lives.
Dorris was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Ann Lisenby, and his father, Dorris Trice, Sr. He was also predeceased by his brothers Elmo Trice and Virgil Trice, and his sister Patricia Lisenby.
The legacy of Dorris Trice, Jr. is one defined by hard work, devotion, and simplicity, a man who remained true to himself and those around him until the end. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his impact on his family and community will endure for generations to come.
