Dorothy Elizabeth Veasley

Dorothy Elizabeth Veasley was born April 12th 1933 in Cerulean, Kentucky. She was the eldest daughter of twelve siblings to Houston Bell, a farmer, and Gertrude Bell, a homemaker. Dorothy attended Attics High School briefly then eloped at the young age of fifteen. She later remarried to Albert Veasley of Georgia, an Air Force Veteran to whom she was married for over forty years. She was employed as a factory worker at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. for over twenty years. She later became a caretaker until her retirement.

Dorothy was passionate about her career as a caretaker and cared deeply for her patients, growing especially close to the Rudds. She was also a great cook known for making large Sunday meals when visiting with family and making her delicious fried peach pies from scratch. Her zest for life, love for R&B and Soul music, and her taste for lavish fashion were undeniable. She left an imprint on the hearts of many with her giving spirit and her great love for family.

She leaves behind one brother, John Bell of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, sisters Lynda and Barbara Bell of Louisville, Kentucky and Brenda Outing of Fort Wales, Florida. She also leaves behind her niece, Melinda Bell, three great nieces and nephew Andrea Bell, Jasmine Bischof, and Chayla and C.J. Outing, and great‑great niece and nephews Yasmine Bell and Josiah, Titus, and Elijah Bischof, all of whom she loved dearly. Near the end of her life she would cling to her gospel music that would help bring her peace. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, February 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel.
