Dorothy Mae Vance, 98, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Dorothy's life was devoted to being a good Christian, a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was selfless to the core and fiercely devoted to her family and their care. "If I had to do it all again I wouldn't change a thing" - Mom
She was born on May 23, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky to Walter and Edith (Sherrard) Ragland. She is preceded in death by her Father, Walter Marion Ragland, Mother, Edith Ragland, Husband of 76 years, Robert A Vance, Sr., Sons, Larry G. Vance and Son, Richard Wayne Vance, Grandson, Jacob Ryan Vance, and Brother, Thomas C. Ragland.
Dorothy is survived by her loving family, Sons, Robert A. (Diane) Vance, Jr., Bonus Daughters, Brenda Jo Vance, Cathy Vance, Kenneth L. (Pamela) Vance, Donald R. (Sharon) Vance, Walter K. (Diana) Vance, Jerry T. (Jami) Vance, and Gary S. (Ann) Vance; Grandchildren, Pam, Danny, Jason, Jennifer, Amy, Chris, Benji, David, Justin, Kimberly, Jeremy, Brad, Nathan, Sam, Scott, Michelle, Mathew, Carla, Michael, Nathaniel, Jeremy, Brian, and Many Great-Grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at Mary and Elizabeth 5th floor, Park Terrace Rehab, and Hosparus of Louisville
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Celebration of a Life Well Lived will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
The family requests that contributions in Dorothy's memory be made to Hosparus of Louisville or St. Jude.
