Dorothy Mae (Nokes) Thomas

Dorothy Mae (Nokes) Thomas, 89, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, with her loving family by her side. She enjoyed working seek-and-find puzzles, but her favorite past-time was spending time with her family and loved ones.

Dorothy was born on December 13, 1927, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late William and Lyda (Estes) Nokes. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Omer F. Thomas; and siblings, James and Sonny Nokes, Ann Marie Horton, and Martha Beets.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Barbara J. Thomas, Linda L. Ashby (Larry), Rodger D. Thomas, Ronald D. Thomas, Jacqueline S. Haas (Dan), and Carolyn F. Coolidge (James); siblings, Ronnie Nokes (Joyce), Mary Jane Knowland (Charles), Betty Smith, John E. Nokes, Ruth Gentry, Shirley Caudill (Raymond), and Jerry Nokes (Elizabeth); 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150) with her Funeral Service taking place at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery (Jeffersonville, Indiana).
