Dorothy Caroline (Hart) Simmons, 97, of Charlestown, Indiana, went home on Sunday morning, November 24, 2019.
She was born on August 10, 1922 in Berlin, Georgia to the late Ivey and Maggie (Gay) Hart. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, R. T. Simmons; children, Billy Simmons, Myrtle Pitts; brothers, Howard, Ed, Paul, Jay; and sisters, Jeanette, Blanche and Dolly.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Carol Cowart (Tommy), Mary Walker (Charles); brothers, Don, Wayne, Arden Hart; sisters, Mattie Lou Martin, Molly Long; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren; and 65 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at Branham Tabernacle (804 Penn Street, Jeffersonville) with burial to follow in Eastern Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to Voice of God Recordings (5911 Charlestown Pike, Jeffersonville, IN 47130).
