Dorothy Shelton, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Jewish Hospital Downtown. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 10, 1938 to the late Louis and Willie Mae Ray. She was a member of Guiding Star Baptist Church and participated in the nurses guild. Dorothy was retired from the Jefferson County Public School System. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roland Shelton, Sr., two sisters, Delores Ray and Cora Lee Hill, a brother, Louis Ray Jr.; a grandson, Douglas Lee Spencer Jr.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved children Roland Shelton, Jr., Sheila A. Spencer (Douglas Spencer Sr.), Theresa M. Shelton, Alvena M. Sears and Robert L. Shelton (Tonya); two sisters, Gloria Grant and Doris Ann Ray; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at Noon on Friday, September 29,2017 at Guiding Star Baptist Church, 2724 Muhammad Ali Blvd, Louisville, KY 40212.
