Dorothy Mae Shain

On June 29, 2024, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Dorothy Mae Shain passed away at age 88. She was born Dorothy Mae Edwards in Short Creek, Kentucky and resided in Louisville. 

Dorothy was married to her true love Isaac Shain "Ike", just short of 70 years, who preceded her in death. She was the heart of our family and we remember her for having raised five children, Patricia (Terry Bickel), Danny (Susan), Garry (Jacqui), Mike (Cindy), and Connie (Randy Angel), without every raising her voice. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who she loved spoiling and spending time with. 

Dorothy was retired from J.C. Penney and a devoted member of Dover Chapel General Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking for large gatherings and was best known for her homemade pies and chicken and dumplings. She also loved quilting.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 .m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, Kentucky.
