Dorothy Mae (Gum) Russell, 90, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. She enjoyed going for drives around town and eating out at local restaurants.
She was born on June 4, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Sherdan and Lilly (Carroll) Gum. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, Bud Russell; and siblings, Jim Lawson, Eugene Lawson, Zelma Hampton, Ellen Lewis, and Johnny Gum.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Nyoka Stewart (Dick), Leann McCoy (Richard); siblings, Dan Lawson (Fern), Ruby Lawson; sister-in-law, Vanda Lawson; grandchildren, Todd Stewart, Becky Wheeler (Mike), Melanie Dome (Todd); 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 11 AM. Her Funeral Service will take place Saturday at 1 PM in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.
