Dorothy Ann (Mcpheeters) Lindsey

Dorothy Ann (McPheeters) Lindsey, 78, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Dorothy worked in many different roles at the New Albany Country Club for over 27 years. She also worked at the Waffle House on State Street and did 15 years of private child care for Cooper & Carson Conley. Dorothy was a long-time member of Howards Chapel Baptist Church.

Dorothy was born on April 2, 1939, in New Albany, Indiana, as the 11th of 13 children born to the late William and Ora (Whittaker) McPheeters. She was united in marriage to Richard E. Lindsey on August 17, 1957, and to this union brought 5 children to bless their home. Along with her parents and her husband, Richard, she is preceded in death by her son, Richard D. Lindsey; and siblings, Dude, Marx, LaVern, Sam, Tony, Arthur, Gladys and Kenneth.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Bunton (Stanley), Carmen Fowler, Tina Humphrey (Jeff), and Wade Lindsey; brother, James McPheeters; sisters, Wilma Offutt, LaVonne Mukes and Vera Middleton; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Galatian Baptist Church (2020 Maryland Avenue, New Albany, Indiana) with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery.
