Dorothy Kay Dixon, a cherished soul who graced the lives of many, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the age of 67 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on April 16, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of J.C. and Voncille (Miller) Gallaway, who preceded her in death. Her journey through life was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone she met.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished meemaw. With over 40 years as a registered nurse, her vocation was more than just a career; it was a testament to her nurturing nature and profound commitment to caring for others. In addition to her professional dedication, she found joy in spending time with family and friends, embarking on vacations, and shopping. Her heart expanded even further through her work as an Avon representative, where she formed close friendships that enriched her life.
Dorothy would always extend her warmth and generosity beyond her own family, consistently putting the needs of others before her own. Her dedication to her father, J.C., until his passing is a reflection of the depth of her love and commitment to family, including multiple pets as she was an avid animal lover. For many years, she also found solace and community at Valley Station Baptist Church, where she nurtured her spiritual bonds.
Dorothy's legacy of kindness and light will be profoundly missed by her loving husband, William Dixon; daughters Amanda (Aaron) Sherrell and Brittany (Justin) Witt; son Jonathan Dixon; and her beloved grandchildren, Lincoln, Clara, Maverick, Roman, Ledge, and Jinx. She is remembered fondly by a wide circle of extended family and friends, all of whom will cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation in honor of Dorothy will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
