Dorothy Marie Bohannon

Dorothy Marie "Dottie" Bohannon, 74, passed away on May 4, 2024. She was a phenomenal mother, grandmomma, nana, sister, aunt and friend. She was always there for others by putting others before herself. Dottie retired from JCPS with over 20 years of service. Her students and co-workers at Cochran Elementary School loved her for her kindness and gentle care. Dottie was an integral part of the Cochran Christmas Project for over 20 years, which provided the entire school with clothing, shoes, coats, toys, candy and basic school supplies. She will be truly missed, but will forever live in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bohannon, Jr.; mother, Anna and Paul Wilson; father, Kenneth H. Smith; brother, Leon Smith; sister-in-law, Barbara Hoskinson, mother-in-law, Ruby Bohannon and father-in-law, Walter Bohannon, Sr.

Dottie leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Joanna "Jodie" Bohannon; grandchildren, Victoria "Tori" (Brandon Hurst) Bohannon and Zachary "Zach" (Janie Gellhaus) Bohannon; great-grandchildren, Caleb Bohannon, Makinley Bohannon, Corbin Bohannon, Joshua (Jennifer) Craig, Oaklee Hurst and Monroe Hurst; brothers, Kenneth E. (Linda) Smith and Gilbert R. (Deb) Smith; sister-in-law's, Pam Smith and Teresa Bohannon Livers; sister, Pam (Tom) Fink; aunt, Darlene Hardesty and numerous nieces, nephews, bonus children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 1pm-8pm. A celebration of Dottie's life will be Monday, May 13, 2024, beginning at 1pm at the funeral home.

Dottie will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40213.
