Dorothy Louise Barbour, age 87 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Dorothy was born November 8, 1937 to the union of Russell Richard Hinkle and Mary Eliza Elzy, the fourth daughter of eight children. She confessed Jesus Christ as Savior and was baptized at the age of nine, by Rev. G.P. White of St. Paul Baptist Church of Louisville, KY. Over her committed years of service, Dorothy was led under the leadership of Rev. Lincoln Bingham and in her latter years under Rev. Deryk D. Hayes at St. Paul Baptist Church at Shively Heights. Dorothy was a valiant Vacation Bible School participant and as well a strong advocate for church out-reach at nursing homes and her neighborhood community. She loved the Lord and her church family dearly.
Because of her love for music, Dorothy was a loyal member of the Senior Adult Choir and a proud member of the "Seasoned Saints". Some of her favorite songs where “Tell the Angels” and “Serving the Lord will Pay Off”. Dorothy’s favorite scripture was: Isaiah 40:31; "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Domestically, Dorothy worked in the hospital and hotel industry, was a community babysitter and caretaker for dozens of families, as well as a loyal step-mother to three sons…. sons affectionately gained by her marriage to the late William Burton Barbour Sr. on May 3, 1979.
Preceding her in death, are her husband, William Burton Barbour Sr.; parents, Russell and Mary Hinkle; siblings, Richard L., Mary Frances, Elizabeth Anne, Burnett, Virginia, James Herbert and Norman Thomas.
Dorothy is survived by step-sons, William Burton Barbour Jr., Kevin Lamar Barbour. Sr., Eric Duvalle Barbour, Sr.; and God-daughter, Jamila O’Na Young; as well as a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be from 11am to 12pm on Friday, June 13, 2025 at St. Paul Shively Heights Baptist Church, 2627 Crums Lane, Louisville, kY 40216, with a celebration of life service to follow at 12pm. Burial will be in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, 4701 Brownsboro Rd, Louisville, KY 40207.
