Doris Jean Ginthum, 84, was born October 9, 1930 to Leo Rice and Doris Catherine Wheatley in Louisville, KY and peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 2, 2015.
Doris was a retired owner and operator of a day care center for children, many of whom often returned with love to visit and reminisce. Doris Jean, aka "muchiachen", was an avid lover of dancing, playing slot machines, singing karaoke, and vacationing with family and friends.
We will celebrate her life and all the joy she brought into this world. A woman full of sass and incredible strength who raised five children and was the core of a growing family with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Our family is united and full of love because of the love that started with Doris and Gerhardt L. Ginthum. They are together once again.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhardt L. Ginthum; parents, Leo Rice and Doris Catherine Wheatley; siblings, Bub, Robert, Kenneth, and Herman Wheatley.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Debra Sheehan (Mike) and Laura Lamson (Abdul); sons, Larry Ginthum (Debbie), Bruce Ginthum (Judy), and Michael Ginthum (Ann); sister, Anna Mae Alvey; grandchildren Michael Sheehan (Amy), Christy Smith, Nicole Ginthum, Douglas Ginthum, and Amber Ginthum; great grandchildren Shayla, Hannah, Hailey, Ray, and Rece; her Maltese, Dakota, and a host of other family and friends.
