Donny Short

Donald Ray Short, fondly known as "Donny," unexpectedly transitioned into the next life on June 1st, 2024. Born on August 23rd, 1970, Donny leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

He is survived by his loving mother and Pops, Rose and John Shipley; his brother, David White; his daughter, Athena Bannister Short; his son, Nathan Short; his grandchildren, Braxton, Emry, and Octavia Short; his stepbrother, John Jr; his stepsisters, Marsha and Michelle, and numerous other beloved family members and friends.

In spirit, Donny reunites with his biological father, Bobby Ray Short; his brother, Bobby Ray; his grandparents, Edeltraut and Willy Schoeps, Robert and Viola Short, and Herchel and Virginia Shipley.

Donny had a deep appreciation for all bodies of water and found solace in fishing. He delighted in cooking and sharing meals with loved ones, and his musical talents brought joy to those around him. Known for his acts of service, Donny's love knew no bounds. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Donny, may we hold dear the memories we shared and find comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever watch over us.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funeral & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 11am-1pm.

A graveside service will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY beginning at 2pm.
