Donnie Ray Stevens, 68, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Donnie was a graduate of Franklin County High School, Central Kentucky Area Vocational School, and Jefferson Community College. He served honorably in the United States Navy and received three commendations for his expertise in making ship repairs during wartime. After the Navy, he worked as a machinist, machine shop supervisor, and plant manager for several manufacturing plants in the Louisville area. Donnie enjoyed many outdoor activities and sports, especially golf, and playing with his grandchildren. He was a Christian and a member of Valley View Church since 2004. He was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, on July 2, 1952, to the late Chester Stevens and Elizabeth Swanagan.
Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Bonnie Stevens; children and stepchildren, Brent (Kim) Stevens, Donnie (Denise) Stevens, Jr., Stacy (Jackson) Young, Alaina (Daniel) Schrodt, Virginia (Tom) Carpenter, and Michael (Tina) Fischer; and 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens-West in Louisville.
