Donnie Wayne Simler, 81, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy and retired from O'Reilly Auto Parts, both in New Albany.
He was born on December 19, 1936, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Leonard and Louise (Daily) Simler. Donnie was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae (Wilson) Jordan Simler; and brother, Melvin Simler.
Donnie is survived by his stepchildren, Charles "Glenn" Jordan (Diane) and Elsie Mae Pitts (Ronnie); nephew, Larry Simler; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Edwardsville Cemetery.
