Donald James Wheatley, 63, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 18, 1953 to the late Robert James and Ruby Wheatley. He was a retired Major in the United States Air Force. He also was a retired JROTC Instructor at Moore Traditional High School. His hobbies include hunting, working on cars, welding, spending time with his grandchildren and enjoying his gun collections.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Trina Wheatley; two children, Jeremy Wheatley and Tiffany (Jason) Reynolds; grandchildren, Benjamin Utterback, Morgan Utterback, Kailey Utterback, Dylan Wheatley, Serena Wheatley, Kayla Wheatley, Austin Reynolds, Luke Reynolds and Clay Reynolds; siblings, Anita (Joe) Marshall, Becky Wheatley, Martha Jones and David (Jennifer) Wheatley; and a host of other family members and friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. till service time on Wednesday both at the funeral home.
