Donald W. Richards

Donald W Richards, 79 of Middletown went to join his heavenly father on January 19, 2016 while wintering in his North Fort Myers home. Donald was everybody's guy. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many- but most of all a Christian and a servant of the Lord. His greatest joy was in serving the Lord, his church, his family, and helping others. He was a member of Poplar Level Baptist Church, member and past Master of Highland Park Masonic Lodge #865, Scottish Rite Valley of Louisville, Kosair Shrine of Louisville, Past Masters Society of Central Kentucky, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a retired coach operator from Shockey Tours. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernis and Beulah Davis Richards; stepmother, Carrie Richards; brothers, Charles Richards and Kenneth Richards.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 43 years, Bonnie; daughters, Donna Hardesty (Benny), Susan Summitt (Steve), Carolyn Moore (Joe) and Gail Abbott (David); grandchildren, Ashley Jones (Jesi), Benjamin, Amanda, Courtney, Abby, Jordan, Cole, Andrew, Rachel, and Jackson; great-grandchildren, Rowan and Brooklyn; sisters, Margaret Pogue, Betty Smith, Raymond Richards (Shirley), Daymond Richards, and Jerry Richards; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved; and a host of relatives and friends.


Visitation will be 12-6pm Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with Masonic Services at 6pm. There will also be visitation 10am-1pm Monday, January 25th at Poplar Level Baptist Church 14302 Poplar Ln, Louisville, KY, with a celebration of Don's Life there at 1pm.
