Don Summers, 83, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at his home with his family by his side. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post 42 and the Hobart Beach VFW Post 1693. He was a 50+-year-member of the New Albany Masonic Lodge and the Floyds Knobs Conservation Club. He loved bowling, gardening, going to sporting events to watch his grandchildren, and attending NASCAR races.
He was born on July 1, 1936, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Albert and Gladys (Brugh) Summers. Along with his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother, Bob Summers.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sue (Cummins) Summers; children, Ray (Val) Summers and Donna (Randal) Wolfe; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany with a Masonic Service at 5:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
