Donald Andrew Richeson, aka "RD," 70, loving husband of 50 years to Earleen Richeson, of Taylorsville, left this earth to enter heaven from his home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He was born on January 3rd, 1951 in Louisiville, KY to John and Leona Richeson, who preceded him into heaven.
Don attended Bishop David High School, class of 1969, and then served in the U.S. Air Force followed by the Kentucky Air National Guard in Louisville for 35 years and stayed on call to serve in "Operation Iraqi Freedom" for 7 years after his retirement. He was a Master Sergeant where he served as an aircraft mechanic. He was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church in Taylorsville, Ky. In his spare time, he was always outside doing something like hunting, fishing, tinkering in his barn or mowing the yard. He loved being "Poppy" to his grandkids and granddogs, and being down at Rough River either out on the lake in his fishing boat or sitting on the back porch cutting up with his family. And when not at the lake, he was watching wildlife with his binoculars or his Kindle fully loaded with all of his favorite streaming apps from his all-seasons room at his home.
Donald is survived and will be terribly missed by his beautiful wife, Earleen (Corder) Richeson; adoring daughter, Juliet (Richeson) McMillen (Billy);and loving son, Robert Richeson (Christy); and four grandchildren he adored, Lily McDonald, Mandy Richeson, Van Richeson and Luke McDonald; along with his brothers, JR Richeson and Daniel Richeson (Carolyn). He has also left behind loving brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243 and on Wednesday from 9 to 11am there. A celebration of Don's life will be at 11am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow with military honors at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd. Radcliff, Kentucky 40160, with guests arriving at the administration building at 1:15pm.
