Donald Wayne Reed

April 1, 1951 — June 18, 2021

Donald Wayne Reed, 70, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. He had a lifelong career in forestry work, where his passion was preserving nature and helping others appreciate its beauty. Don enjoyed cliff repelling, river rafting, riding his motorcycle, traveling, and creating whiskey barrel furniture. He also liked music, singing, and playing the guitar and banjo.

He was born on April 1, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, to Charles and Marie (Kendell) Reed. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Reed; and sister, Kimberley Reed.

Don is survived by his wife, Peggy (Conrad) Reed; daughter, Leia Ruoff (Steven); stepchildren, Chris Gayheart (Cary), Jaime Booth (Corey), and Kacie Greenheck (Kyle); brother, Lloyd Reed (Donna); and grandchildren, Jacob Ruoff, Brice Gayheart, Hannah, Lillie, and Max Booth, and Kinsley and Freya Greenheck.

Cremation was chosen following Don's wishes, and a reception of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Contributions in his memory may be made to The Nature Conservancy (Attn.: Treasury, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203).
