Donald Ray Cox

Donald Ray Cox, 61, passed away on February 21, 2016. He worked at Republic Diesel for over 40 years. Donnie loved to fish, hunt and go to Las Vegas. He was an avid UofL fan Spending time drinking beer and talking with his grandchildren and their friends was one of his favorite past times. Donnie and Mary met at the Louisville Ski Club and they both loved to travel with friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Cox and sister, Betty Satterly.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Cox; daughter, Michelle (Charlie) Hodges; grandchildren, Andrew (Adrienne) Hoefler, Brandon Hoefler and Shelby Hodges, great grandchildren, Laila Springer and Lucille Hoefler; sisters, Janice (Steve) Dalton and Brenda Cox and Carol Rice; nieces, Ronda and Chrissie; nephew, Matt and multiple nieces and nephews on his wife's side.


Visitation will be Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway) from 2pm-8pm. A celebration of Donald's life will be Friday, February 26, 2016 beginning at 1pm at the chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home SW.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to the American Cancer Society, 701 W Muhammad Ali Blvd, Louisville, KY 40203.
